| Brick
paved, automobile free, crowded with shops, stalls, food stands and
restaurants, Olvera Street is the centerpiece of the El Pueblo de
Los Angeles Historic Monument, the founding site of the city. It was
in 1930 that the street was rebuilt as a marketplace and named for
an L.A. County judge and supervisor. Over the years it has become
a point of pride for the citizens of Los Angeles and the lifeblood
of the city's historic core. |
