Dear Friends:

Thank you for visiting my online City Attorney's Office. Improving public safety and the quality of life in our neighborhoods requires hard work tackling tough issues. While we have delivered many successes for Los Angeles, we remain committed to taking a tough, comprehensive approach to eliminating crime in our communities.

We have realized innovations in crime prevention and education. As a result of successful programs like Operation Bright Future and Gang Injunction enforcement, the City of Los Angeles has experienced a significant decline in gang-related crime, coupled with a 33% reduction in gang membership. Gang violence in the City continues, but our office has built a solid foundation for a continued reduction in gang violence and membership. By building partnerships with federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI, targeting crime geographically versus demographically, and tenaciously tackling the task at hand, we will tip the scale in favor of justice.

This year, we announced the creation of several new initiatives, including the Anti-Fraud and ID Theft Unit and the School Safety Prosecutor Program, all of which have received overwhelming support from you in the community. At the same time, we continue working to protect our city, to build stronger, healthier communities and to empower residents to partner with us in fighting crime.

Our success could not be realized without the help and support of local residents like you, police officers, the Mayor, City Council and countless others. The task of making our city safer is truly a partnership and without all of you, we wouldn't be successful.
