
Lieutenant Ron Newton is a twenty-six year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently assigned as a Watch Commander at Hollenbeck Patrol Division.
He has completed the Department Drug Recognition Expert School, Drug Recognition Expert Instructor School and Radar Operator's School. He has completed the Commercial Enforcement Course conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a Hazardous Materials Course conducted by the California Highway Patrol, the Earthquake Management and the Terrorism course conducted by CSTI. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Security Management Army Officer Candidate School, and the U.S. Army Security Management School. He studied Business Management at California State University at Los Angeles, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from the Union Institute. He earned a Master's Degree in Dispute Resolution/Conflict Management from California State University Dominguez Hills.
His teaching experience includes Sergeant School Traffic Supervision, DRE School, and OIC, Driver's Awareness School. He also teaches for Northwestern University Traffic Institute, the National Judicial College, and numerous military schools. He holds a Management P.O.S.T. Certificate.
He is affiliated with the California Narcotic Officers Association, the Hazardous Materials Investigators Association, the American Society for Industrial Security, and the Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County. He was recently featured as a DUI enforcement subject expert on the television show "City View".
