Sergeant Steven Nielsen

Sergeant Nielsen is a twenty-two-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and has been a sergeant for the past ten years. He is currently assigned as a Traffic Enforcement Supervisor at Central Traffic Division. His responsibilities include supervision of Traffic Enforcement and Collision Investigation Officers, divisional Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Coordinator and divisional Impound Coordinator.

Sergeant Nielsen has worked four different patrol assignments and two traffic division assignments. His assignments include motors, accident investigation, training officers in patrol, Vice and a special problems unit. Sergeant Nelson was promoted to Sergeant in 1988 and his assignments include 77th Street patrol, Hollenbeck Division patrol and adjutant to the division Captain, South Traffic Division Motor supervision and Central Traffic Division.

Sergeant Nielsen holds a B.A. degree in Administration of Justice from the Union Institute, College of Undergraduate Studies. He is also a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) since May of 1993 and is DRE instructor since June of 1993.
