Jobs Opportunities in the Mayor's Office
Executive Director Office of Census 2010
The United States Constitution requires the federal government to count our nations population every ten years. The City of Los Angeles has commenced planning and working to ensure a full and accurate population account for all residents. The next decennial Census is in April 2010, but the City of Los Angeles must start planning and working now to ensure a full and accurate population count of city residents. The Census determines how many representatives will speak for our City in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, but also determines our Citys share under most federal and state funding programs and dictates our proportion of certain tax revenues.
The Executive Director of the Office of Census 2010 will be charged with spearheading a citywide educational and community outreach campaign to ensure that all residents understand the importance of the Census and fully participate in the Census. The Executive Director will also implement a program to ensure that the U.S. Census Bureau counts each and every City resident.
