| As the City of Los Angeles keeps pace with the needs of its people, the Board of Public Works continues it leadership tradition after more than 90 years of service.
The Board of Public Works is the City’s only full-time, policy-making board. The Board is an executive team comprised of five members who are selected and appointed by the Mayor of Los Angeles to five-year terms and confirmed by the City Council.
Board of Public Works Commissioners are the chief administrators of the Department of Public Works, a department consisting of more than 5,400 employees who are responsible for design, construction, renovation and operation of public projects ranging from bridges to wastewater treatment plants and libraries; curbside collection and graffiti removal; and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, sewers, streetlights and street trees.
The Board conducts its regular public meetings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in City Hall, Room 350, 200 N. Spring St., Los Angeles.
