Mission Statement
The Office of Community Outreach understands the importance of empowering youth through knowledge and understanding of the educational process and the identification of role models. Today technology has a powerful presence in our daily lives yet technological inequality and lack of academic knowledge are prevailing problems in the city. The mission of the Community Outreach Office is to partner with private, non-profit, government and academic institutes to create educational and career opportunities for our youth and the community.

The City of Los Angeles, Information Technology Agency has partnered with UCLA OneSource Youth Program to resume the Youth Intern Program. The internship program seeks to provide inner city high school students with meaningful work experience in the area of technology. Interns will have the opportunity for employment during the summer break and intersession breaks. Student interns will work closely with an expert mentor in one of the following technology areas; (1) media broadcasting, (2) web development, or (3) computer engineering. ITA is committed to providing the student interns with a rewarding work experience and help foster the development of tomorrows workforce.
City of Los Angeles, Technology & Education Summit – November 2008 (www.theitsummit.com)
ITA & Paramount World Group are sponsors of the 2008 City of Los Angeles Technology & Education Summit. This is the second annual Technology & Educational summit which will kick off on November 12th at the world class Los Angeles Convention Center.
Technology is constantly changing. The purpose of the City of Los Angeles Technology & Education Summit is to support the proliferation of information technology and education in Los Angeles. The Technology Summit will feature the latest in information technology solutions for corporate, education, and government leaders. The aim of the summit is to create a forum for City government Executives & other IT decision makers to discuss pertinent technology issues affecting Government. Effective E-Government helps agencies streamline their internal operations and provide better service to the public.
This year’s summit will feature a young adult educational technology component in which key vendors will demonstrate their solutions, and provide hands-on learning for the students, in partnership with the Los Angeles school districts, Los Angeles City College District and a variety of educational organizations. One of the goals of the partnership is to propagate economic development in the city. Students participating in this year’s summit will have an opportunity to attend workshops where technology issues such as Cyber security and Intellectual copy rights will be discussed. LAUSD and LACCD will seek to spark students’ interest in pursuing technology career paths by presenting career options in technology. Selected high schools from LAUSD will participate in this year’s event.
