Board of IT Commissioners

On July 1, 2008, the Board of Information Technology Commissioners ceased operation due to changes in the law and new state regulatory structure.  Sec. 22.646. of the Administrative Code created the Board of Information Technology Commissioners (“Board”). The Board was comprised of five members. The Board was appointed, removed and organized in accordance with Charter Sections 501-503.

Former Duties of the Commission

  • Study and make recommendations to the Mayor and the City Council on issues of community-wide interest relating to cable and telecommunications franchise, including cable television access, technology access, and regulatory issues within the City’s authority.
  • Conduct hearings and workshops and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding cable and telecommunications franchises. 
  • Advocate, solicit, and facilitate citizen participation in cable television and telecommunications franchise decision-making.
